Sa'adat Hasan Manto was the celebrated Pakistani writer of Kashmiri origin. In August 1954, Manto wrote a letter to the Indian Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Manto also made mention of famous Kashmiri Persian Poet Ghani Kashmiri in this letter sent just before his death in Lahore, Pakistan.
